cello
I started playing the cello over 55 years ago. My first teacher was David Finckel, then a teenage prodigy, now world renowned, former 34 year member of the Emerson Quartet and co-founder of ArtistLed Recordings. I later studied with Paul Olefsky, David Wells, Stephen Kates, and Yehuda Hanani. I participated in Master Classes with Raya Garbousova and Mstislav Rostropovich. I also studied viola da gamba with Mary Ann Ballard.
I received my Bachelor of Music from Hartt School of Music and earned a Master of Music from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
I teach private cello lessons and viola da gamba lessons in my Whippany studio near Morristown,in Morris County, northern NJ. FOR EVERYONE’S SAFETY DURING THE PANDEMIC, I AM TEACHING ONLINE/REMOTE/VIRTUAL CELLO AND GAMBA LESSONS USING THE ZOOM PLATFORM. I’m a member of ASTA (American String Teachers Association) and the Viola da Gamba Society of America. I perform with orchestras, choirs, and smaller ensembles in the tri-state area, and record with a variety of artists. I’m also a member of several chamber groups that perform everything from classical repertoire to folk music.
The other pages of this site will tell you more. And thanks for visiting!
